The
eighth Guru of Sikhism, Shri Guru Har Krishan Ji was born in July, 1656 at
Kirtapur Sahib. He was the second son of Guru Har Rai Sahib and Mata Krishan
Kaur Ji.
Guru
Har Krishan Ji was nominated as Eight Nanak, at the age of just five years, by
his father Guru Har Rai Sahib in 1661. He took the throne of Guruship: small
figure, young in years, but mature in wisdom. The Sikhs remembered him as the
picture of Guru Nanak Dev ji. They saw the same light on Guru Har Krishan’s
face as on Guru Nanak’s. He had a special ability to explain passages from the
Holy Granth. He cherished the hearts of his disciples by his spiritual bani. He
asked everyone to discard your desires and learn the morals of patience, love
and charity.
Once
he came to Delhi where life-threatening smallpox was widespread which resulted
in numerous deaths. Guru ji extended a cure for the same through the lake at
Bangla Sahib. He too lost his life exposing himself to his ill devotees. He
taught us to serve the humanity selflessly. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib was constructed in his
memory.
Youth Akali Dal
extends warm wishes on Gurgaddi Diwas Sahib Shri Guru Harkrishan Ji. May Guru
Sahib bless you and your family with joy, peace and happiness!
