2nd October: International Day of Non Violence

Until today, the world has seen a hell of wars that ended up in countless shot down lives and filled many more with a deep grief. There is no such nation which hasn’t seen the bitter effects of power and greed. Every new day we get the news of innocent people dying and beautiful cities were destructed. Even the aggression for a good cause turns out to be ugly that leads to many deaths.
To world’s fortune, there are few men who work to bring the change and endeavor to build a violence-free nation. The International Day of Non-Violence is celebrated in the honor of these selfless people residing across the world. Feting non-violence ways to make an impactful change in the society is an ardent need of the hour. The peaceful strategies are to be formed to fight out the injustice fanned across the globe.
The International Day of Non-Violence is observed on 2nd October on the birth anniversary of one of the most influential political activists of all time, Mahatma Gandhi. He used non-violence as the only weapon to kill the British rule in India at the time. Despite being confined in jail several times, he had never given up on his peaceful approach that eventually leads India towards its Independence after so many years.
Apart from Independence issue, Gandhi ji laid emphasis to build prosperous relationship among people of different castes, ethnicities and religions. He also contributed in raising women’s rights and reducing the evil of poverty. He was assassinated in 1948; he is remembered since then as ‘The Father of the Nation’.
On June 15th, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly voted to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi as the International Day of Non-Violence. The day is devoted to spread the message of non-violence people residing in every nook and corner of the world.

Youth Akali Dal extends the greeting of the International Day of Non-Violence. And seek an opportunity to appeal the public to spread the message of peace and harmony all around. Let’s pledge to make an amiable platform for the masses!
